Physics
The course is split into four parts as listed on the main physics website. Throughout the year you'll be keeping an R&R notebook of your adventures in physics, so please keep your notes, labs, and project information in there. You will have a full list of what should be included in your R&R notebook prior to each semester's notebook check at the end of the semester. The principle of academic honesty also requires that all recorded work by a student must be their own. Failure to adhere to this standard means one does not meet in the habit of ethical behavior for the semester.
Honors physics - In honors physics the requirement is to do the expanded version of all of the quarterly projects and labs, going into more depth, doing outside research on the topic being studied with any particular assignment, as well as going deeper into the underlying mathematics and models involved in each concept. You can qualify to take physics as an honors student if you complete all of the first quarter's weekly labs on time and meet standards overall for each lab.
Late / missing work - If you miss class it is your responsibility to contact the teacher to find out what you've missed. For each class day you've missed you have that many calendar days to make up a major assignment (labs and projects). Work which is within a week late of the given due date is at best approaching in the habits of heart, and any later than that will result in a project or lab not meeting standards. Failure to complete one major assignment/project most likely results in an Approaches Standards in Ethical Behavior. Failure to complete more than one major assignment/project most likely results in an DNM Standards in Ethical Behavior.
Attendance - Habitual absences/lateness will be reflected in your final assessment at the mid-year and year-end narrative in the Habit of Ethical Behavior and Common Good. Also note that double blocks count as two absences. So please don’t miss school on double science days.
1st Semester breakdown:
5 or less absences/tardies = Meets Standards
8 or less absences/tardies = Approaches Standards
9 or more absences/tardies = Does Not Meet Standards
2nd Semester breakdown:
3 or less absences/tardies = Meets Standards
5 or less absences/tardies = Approaches Standards
6 or more absences/tardies = Does Not Meet Standards

Advanced math and science
As history goes to the winners, those who keep writing get to determine history. That being said, you'll be keeping an R&R notebook of your research project as it evolves from a vague and crazy idea into something concrete and awesome. The course is focused on both project documentation, and the consistency with which one applies themselves in class. In class students are required to both stay on task with their project work, either in running a project or documenting it. The framework for what should be covered in your R&R notebook for the class is covered here.
